I check out various podcasts while on long runs. From The Audible on FoxSports to NPR’s Fresh Air. One I pop on regularly is The Brookings Institute Cafeteria podcast. They had Smith College Economics Professor Andrew Zimbalist on recently. He has written well over a dozen books on sports and money. His most recent (which I haven’t read yet) is called Circus Maximus: The Economic Gamble Behind Hosting the Olympics and the World Cup.
For those that know me, I am the first one to say that the Olympics are a sham and it is clearly proven that the FIFA World Cup is rife with corruption. Zimbalist provides some economic insight to give more validity to these accusations. It is a fascinating listen and I can’t wait to read his book.
