Sony has stuck to it for years. Apple has pretty much done the same thing with a few PC exceptions. Now Google is trying to go the same direction, a more or less proprietary hardware and software system.

They have launched their own OS called Chrome OS. Of course there is an app store or excuse me Chrome Web Store and this is of course running on non-descript laptops made by Acer and Samsung.

Is it me or does this sound like the updated version of something Microsoft did?
