F**k LA

I grew in Stockton, CA. I’m not a fan of the town however I will take Stockton any day of the week and twice on Sunday over Los Angeles.

I was in LA for business for about 24 hours this past Friday and went from LAX to Universal City which took about 45 minutes to an hour.  I left for the event I was going to an hour and half early because I knew it would take me at least that long, which it did. Think about that for a minute: It took me 1 ½ hours to drive about 18 miles.

Coming home from this event, the Video Game Awards on Spike TV took me about 30 minutes. Yes, 10:45pm at night and it was bumper to bumper traffic on the 110.

Add in the decaying structures that have been desperately maintained and end up looking like an architectural face lift and you get an idea about the soul of this city.

Oh wait; let’s not forget the paparazzi; the photo guys and gals waiting for Celebes to walk in backstage so that they can get a shot for People or Cosmo or whatever. Seriously, these folks live up to every cliché in the book. From bad accents, thinning hair, and bad terms to get the Celebes to look their way (“Love your trophy”) and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Either way it was bad.

Needless to say, having to fly out on Untied was like pouring salt into an open wound. I spent more time in line getting an e-ticket than going through security. I travel a lot now and that is exact opposite on every other airline I fly. The poor people at United were overworked and severely understaffed. They hopefully will got bought out by Southwest or do travelers a favor and go out of business.

Needless to say that was my 24 hours in LA. I’m happy their over.
