Well that couldn’t make it work for whatever reason. Juergen Klinsmann has withdrawn his name from consideration to be the next head coach of the US National Team.
As recently as yesterday it looked like a done deal. Klinsmann, who lives in Huntington Beach and is married to an American, even ended his deal with Adidas so that there would be no conflict with the US National Team sponsor NIKE.
It was the worst kept secret in soccer, Klinsmann as the next US National Team Coach. Klinsmann turned the traditionally defensive Germany team into an offensive powerhouse and a 3rd place finish in this summer’s World Cup. It was believed that he would bring the same style to the US team and also, possibly, give other players an opportunity.
Now it appears that Bob Bradley, head coach of CD Chivas USA of the MLS, will be the interim head coach. Bradley will likely get the job in my view unless some other coach becomes available or Klinsmann changes his mind.
No disrespect to Bradley but I hope Klinsmann changes his mind.
